Just at the moment, one of the most difficult places to be must be in finance in the public sector. They are constantly re-doing budgets and subject to negotiations over custs to funding from central government. That is if the organisation still exists: if you are a quango, there is a fair chance you are about to get the chop.
So, its an interesting place to be communicating strategy from. That is what I will be talking about on Oct 13th at the ACCA conference in Bradford.
The Conference is entitled, “Change management, transformation, business efficiency and improvement.” and is aimed at public sector finance people.
I am tempted to start by breaking the myth that lower costs means reduced services. Something that assumes you are already efficient, and something that I doubt many would claim they were sure they were.
